inlays & onlays
Dr. Tsar may recommend an inlay or onlay when a tooth is cracked, fractured, has moderate decay, or is damaged too extensively to be repaired with just a filling.
Dental Inlays and Onlays are types of tooth restorations. They are commonly made out of porcelain and can be closely matched to your tooth color with the end result being a very aesthetic and natural-looking result.
Dr. Tsar may recommend an inlay or onlay when a tooth is cracked, fractured, has moderate decay, or is damaged too extensively to be repaired with just a filling, but not quite extensive enough to justify the use of a full-coverage crown. An Inlay usually fits inside the cusp tips of the tooth while an Onlay is a bit larger, and extends over the cusp tips.
They can be more durable and longer-lasting than fillings. Inlays and onlays reduce the chance of further restoration treatment becoming necessary in the future.
