Jupiter Cosmetic Dentists on Facts About Veneers

12-300x200If you are considering veneers, then it is best to find out as much as you can about them and to discuss them with Jupiter cosmetic dentists for further clarification. Dental veneers or porcelain veneers are custom made, thin shells that are designed to cover the surface of the teeth to improve their appearance. The shells are bonded to the front surface of the teeth and can be used to change their size, shape, color and length. Veneers are often made from resin composites or porcelain as per the requirement. Many cosmetic dentists recommend porcelain veneers as they are thinner, reflect light almost like natural teeth and require the removal of only a thin layer of the tooth’s surface to fit.

Dental veneers are designed to fix a range of dental issues including discolored, worn, broken and chipped teeth. Additionally, they can also minimize the appearance of misaligned, irregularly shaped and uneven teeth while also to close any gaps between teeth. Veneers offer a range of advantages including stain resistance and a natural tooth appearance. Gum tissues are able to tolerate porcelain without much hassle and the color of the porcelain can be chosen for a whiter and brighter smile. Unlike crowns, veneers don’t require extensive shaping before the procedure. These are considered to be a more aesthetic alternative to crowns.

It must be noted that veneers are not reversible and are a bit more expensive in comparison to composite resin bonding. Should your veneers crack or chip, they may not be repaired easily. Since the process involves in the removal of the enamel, the tooth has a high possibility of becoming extra sensitive to hot or cold foods and drinks. If you have unhealthy teeth such as those with gum disease or decay, fractures, large fillings or very little enamel on the surface veneers may not be a good choice for you.

Veneers rarely require special care but it is recommended that you continue your hygiene practices as normal. Stain causing drinks or foods are best to be limited or avoided to prevent the veneers from becoming discolored over time.
